With Costanoa’s location just north of Santa Cruz, there are a handful of great surf spots a short drive down Highway 1.
- Davenport Landing is an easily accessible, wide sandy beach that’s only busy on the hottest weekends of the summer. You’ll find tide pools on the far north and south ends of the beach, great windsurfing on windy days, and intermediate-level surfing year-round.
- Waddell Creek – a kitesurfer’s paradise! When you combine constant wind with Waddell Creek’s river mouth, you get a killer kitesurfing spot. This beach has a rugged coastline and a redwood-lined backdrop—making it breathtaking in more ways than one.
- Just starting out? Cowell’s is the place in Santa Cruz for beginner surfers. With a long-breaking gentle wave and beautiful views of the wharf and lighthouse, you can’t go wrong making the trek down the coast.
